Medical Coder - Health Information Management
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical diagnoses and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining the integrity of medical records. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding guidelines, as well as experience with electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities
Review and analyze patient records to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG classifications.
Ensure accurate documentation of medical billing and collections processes.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures as necessary.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations and compliance standards.
Utilize EMR and EHR systems to input and retrieve patient data efficiently.
Assist in the management of medical records to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
Provide support in training staff on coding practices and medical terminology as needed.
Assemble and distribute medical records as requested.

Skills
Proficiency in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and general ICD coding practices.
Strong understanding of medical billing processes and collections.
Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR systems is essential.
In-depth knowledge of medical terminology to facilitate accurate coding.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
CCA Certification preferred, but will consider strong history of coding experience.
