Intake and Referral Specialist - Home Care
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Referral Specialist to join our Marion County Home Care team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient referrals, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and maintaining accurate medical records. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with Medicare, medical coding, case management, Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems such as Well Sky Kinnser is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Process and manage patient referrals efficiently while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for referred services, particularly focusing on Medicare requirements.
Maintain accurate patient files and ensure all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments.
Utilize medical coding knowledge to ensure proper billing and documentation.
Assist with front desk duties as needed, including answering calls and greeting patients.
Conduct medical collections as required, ensuring compliance with office policies.
Type correspondence and reports accurately to support the administrative functions of the department.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Kansas LPN certification or higher
Previous experience in a medical office setting is essential, with a focus on referral management or front desk operations.
Knowledge of Medicare processes, medical coding, and electronic health record systems (Well Sky Kinnser) is highly advantageous.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
