Laparoscopic Surgery
St. Luke Hospital is proud to offer many types of laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic surgery is done using a scope to perform repair or to make a diagnosis. It is less invasive, therefore it allows for a shorter recovery time with most patients dismissing the same day or early the next day. There is reduced postoperative pain and a reduced need for pain medication. It requires a shorter postoperative recuperation and allows for an earlier return to a normal life-style.Types of Laparoscopic Surgery offered at St. Luke include:
Cholecystectomy - removal of the gallbladder
Appendectomy - removal of the appendix
Laparoscopic Vaginal Assisted Hysterectomy - removal of uterus
Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation - prevention of pregnancy
Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication - repair of the lower esophageal sphincter
Diagnostic Laparoscopy - visualization of abdominal cavity for diagnosis (such as causes of abdominal or pelvic pain)
Hysteroscopy - Visualization of the inside of the uterus
